At Suretrack, our employees are like one big family and we’re strong believers in helping our local community as much as possible.
Throughout the year, an employee committee is involved in various events to raise money for our selected charity: Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children. Earlier this month, we sold Valentine’s Day candy grams to our coworkers for a few dollars each.
The group raised over $4,000 last year for the hospital and childhood cancer research.
But the biggest fundraising event we’re involved in twice a year is sponsoring a team in a charity volleyball tournament for Sick Kids Foundation’s HEATWAVE event. Now in its 23rd year, the winter version is known as ICEWAVE while the summer event is called HEATWAVE.
The event has really grown in size and everyone else in the community here has been behind it. A few years ago, officials from the Guinness Book of World Records certified the HEATWAVE as the largest beach soccer and beach volleyball event in the world.
The one-day tournaments have a lot of intense, friendly competition. At the ICEWAVE tournament earlier this month, a team with some of our employees battled their way to the finals where they eventually lost by only two points.
But that’s nothing compared to the battles faced by the young cancer patients at SickKids who benefitted from the tournament fundraising that day. As a company, we’re proud to do our part in trying to find a solution.
